Things Can Go Wrong

Getting rid of bad work…

Getting rid of bad work…

Yes, it happens. From time to time, I create really crappy pictures.

Analyzing failures over the years, I found out that one of the following issues are to blame:

Trial and Error

When trying new things, they do not always work out as intended. Those “mistakes” are my absolute favorites - because I learn a lot from them. I always push my personal boundaries, even if it means to fail sometimes.

Premature Actuation

Now this is probably the most frustrating type of Error. I am behind the camera and I already know that things won’t add up. The lighting is not perfect, the subject is not in the right pose or I am not sure whether everything is in perfect focus.
Nonetheless, I push the button - and create a crappy image.

Lessons Learned

As a photographer, you develop a gut feeling over time - and you should definitely trust it. Don’t take the image if you already know something is wrong.

And never ever experiment with a client in front of the camera (I never ever did that). Experiment with a pay model or a friend, but not if you have to deliver.
